Walls

We build walls

Walls of steel, walls of stone

Walls of wills, walls of misunderstanding

In hope that they protect us

In hope, in fear

What do walls but divide us?

We build them tall

Thick, strong

That’s their weakness, their curse

We cannot watch the beauty beyond the next hill

We cannot share, we cannot grow

And you will tell me it is protecting me

To grow

To learn

You’ll need to be open

Willing

To walk outside the castle walls

Willing to trust

Willing to try

You’ll need to abandon beliefs

Willing

To walk outside the castle walls

Weakness is what makes you strong

It makes you free, to make mistakes

How else do you grow, but from weakness?

The sun needs the dark to shine

The little needs the tall, the warmth needs the cold

There is nothing wrong to be in need of something else

To grow

To learn

You’ll need to be open

Willing

To walk outside the castle walls

Willing to trust

Willing to try

You’ll need to abandon beliefs

Willing

To walk outside the castle walls

So, when you tell me the walls are protecting me

I ask from what?

From wisdom? From understanding? From friendship? From love?

I ask from what?

You need to be willing

To walk outside the castle walls
